Anxiety, depression, trauma, and stress have an impact on our bodies as well as our mental health.
While we will utilize modalities such as talk therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), gestalt, and more, it is by reconnecting our awareness to our body’s language that we can begin to re-pattern our habitual behaviors for lasting change.
By bringing in body-based awareness - also known as somatic awareness, we can learn to create regulation from within ourselves so that the changes and challenges of the world don’t rock us as hard. From this perspective, we also develop an intimacy with ourselves, and begin to respond in new and creative ways that support our strength and sense of security.
We will work with body-based practices to restore communication between the mind and body.
Many people understand the language of the mind – the language of words, images, logic, and reason. Our bodies also have another language. This is the language of sensations, feelings, and movement that, when understood, can reveal potent information about our desires and needs. This self-knowledge can help us restore connection to our innermost sense of ourselves.
